When I was first asked to do this job, I realised I was probably biting off more than I could chew. I therefore decided to call on the help of Ewan Roberts (who is a highly experienced wrapper) to help me out of my predicament. I soon discovered that the work he does is amazing. He is an absolute gentleman. Very patient and calm.

The roof, bonnet and rear spoiler is all carbon fibre. The rest was done using Oracal 3951 print wrapping vinyl with it’s corresponding clear laminate

Anyway – here’s the end result

Gareth – this was the Oracle carbon wrap vinyl that we used. This stuff was easily torn and Ewan commented that he preferred using the APA version. I’ve never used any carbon effect vinyl before so have nothing to compare it to. Though it did apply easily due to the glue texture which allows the air to escape.

Peter – the design was done for me – I was sent the artwork to use though I did recreate the chrome effect lettering as the original design had a soft shadow, and I wanted to apply all the branding seperately on top of the wrap to ensure it was level and undistorted.

Great job Phil and i agree with your comments on Ewan. Nothing is too much trouble for him and i`m always very impressed by his work.

When you say you had the design done for you, do you use an independent designer?.

Some days i wish i could out source design work as i regularly draw a blank when customers ask me for wraps.

On this occasion the design was done by a company engaged by the sponsor (Apec brakes). However, I have in the past used a graphic design company local to me when I felt the design brief was beyond my ability (e.g. as seen here http://www.uksignboards.com/viewtopic.php?t=47205&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=bath&start=0)

If you’re interested I can pass them your contact details if you want to have a chat with them?
