There is a Demo of vehicle wrapping at Vinyl Logistics in Newark-on-trent (nottinghamshire) tommorow, It’s from about 10 to 4 and they’ll be wrapping a mini.

If you phone ahead of yourself, you may get catering etc etc.

the Phone number is : 01636-613222

Unfortunately I think that they have literally just closed, you can try phoning now or before hand tommorow if you live fairly near.

I would like to have gone, but it’s too far away and too little notice for me.

ramj, did you go to the demo on friday?? I missed it, unfortunately, anyway spoke to carol down there and she told me lots about it.

It was a company called VWS supplying and doing the wrapping, publicity thing cos Sign-Link mag was there.

She told me that they run courses in wrapping, 3 days @ £350 per day, but three people can attend for that price.

HAS ANYONE ANY KNOWLEDGE OF VWS?? AS THEY HAVE BEEN MENTIONED BEFORE??

    Cheers
    Stephen

All I know is VWS supply vehicle-wrap vinyl, I think I’ve seen it on this site before but that was before I really knew what it was. You can contact a vehicle-wrap specialist who uses it on 01285 641403 (ask for mike) he could probably tell you more, he told me about the demo. If you find out anything, post it up,

Any news on the course? It seems about right (price wise) compared to the grafityp grafiwrap one. you’d obviously only be a qualified fitter for VWS.

I emailed that site a few weeks ago and received the number I posted earlier. I’d use that to get direct feedback

    hi guys
yes, VWS stands for Vehicle Wrap System.

I have used VWS many times… Well back when i began using wraps.
its a good vinyl and does its job very well. its easy to apply/remove as it should & was created a while ago for the wrapping of, “i think German” taxis and is easy removable after a period up to 3 years without glue residue being left. it does feel thick & applies very forgivingly…

however, wraps are, and should be applied generally using the same method. but the ease, feel for & how you go about applying different wrap vinyls are different.
what many folk do not realize is that different makes of wrap have different procedures and abilities.

the ones that are very easy to apply, less tack etc are normally are the ones with less ability to9 stay put in deep recesses.
VWS is one of these. strictly gradual dips/recesses. I’ve been messing around on vehicles for a couple of years now, & also reading up on the likes of wrap vinyls. be careful what you use/train up on. it may NOT necessarily be the one you need to know about. 😉

the best wrap vinyl i have used that i would be 100% confident in it staying were i put it is, MACtac MACflleet. although a brillant wrap, its a bugger to apply, “unless” under good working conditions… I.E, warm.. (see demo on “tanning van”.

i have dabbled in grafytyps grafywrap, and although i havent tested it in all the ways i wish to just now, i can give it a very firm thumbs up. (watch for further product tests on this vinyl)

Oracal, being my main vinyl of choice for the past few years, has just brought out their own wrap vinyl. i will certainly be testing this vinyl and making my finds available to all demo access and higher members via product test forum.

    watch this space 😉

overall advice, be carefull on the vinyl & course you go for… most are inclined to stick with the vinyl they are trained on, even though its not neccessarily the tool for the job.
you want the best all round vinyl and you should pay what they ask for the course. cheaper courses do not mean you have won a watch.

    trust me 😉

I read your grafiwrap articles with great interest , it seems a really good product, however, I’ll wait for your final, (or should that be vinyl) verdict
