Posted by Jill Marie Welsh on 8 November 2005 at 12:29

Finally used up the rest of my diamond plate magnetic material.
Traded a kid I work with (who loves skulls) a set of mags for a detail job on my Chevy.
Took all the stickers off the pickup and made myself some small mags with the leftovers from the kid’s.
(I plan to trade in my truck for a smaller one)
They look a lot cooler in bright sunlight.
    Love….jill

What can I say Jill, always nice to be in the company of a talented professional. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Was that magnetic supplied like that, or did you laminate the white stuff with the metal look?

The magnetic material comes in diamond plate….I have no idea how it’s made.
My examples posted here are all done in vinyl, using Calon II HP with the graphic being taken from Brian Briskie’s Skullz collection and VectorArt flames blended together.
    No paint involved!

Lovely work Jill, as usual, don’t know how you are not getting enough work (even with the muppets around) the quality of your work should win the work at the end of the day.

    Hey Jill,
What are the fonts on your mag? Really like the one of “signs”
As I and others have stated.. your talent shines! I love your layout, and your taste in fonts are top notch. I always learn from and really like your comments on fonts, as well as your choice of fonts in your design.
    you rock!

Steve, that’s Arthur Vanson’s Tallington Modern from Letterhead Fonts.
I usually use LHF alphabets, or the Mike Stevens ones, the Atkinsons, etc.
I try to make my work unique so it’s harder for the local cowboys to copy.
I also always try to make my vinyl work look as if it’s been painted.
Thanks for the nice words, you will swell my head.

Thank you Jill, i haven’t bought any yet, but i’m going to soon. I have a list written down from a thread way back when you listed your favorite fonts from letterhead…. it’s been sitting on my dessk since then.
I feel the same way lately about being different with fonts, than the cowboys…. and looking like hand painted. I’m sure that’s influenced from you.
I’ll Never used Brushed again.. not that i did much, but i have in the past, and now i cringe when i see it.
I’m working on my own font, copying my script from way back when I hand painted.
Thanks again, and let me know when you’re coming over…..
You’ll have to get me your email, or convince robert to let me pm…. I emailed stevo last night, for some help, but i haven’t got anything to him yet. I’d still like to sub design to you…

Vitor, I always hit my picket fence when I open my door!
hahahaha….you can see it reflected in the truck.
I need to get that fixed.
Luckily you can’t see where my old logo took off my clear-coat when I removed it,
or that part on the bedside where I sideswiped a stop sign whilst backing up at a job site.

but I had lots left over from a few jobs.
    Thanks for the compliments!
You are gonna swell my poor little head!

    PS
    Already chipped the door too.

To create a bit of mystique, Jill could refer to herself as The Sign Mistress, and then she can work some nasty black leather and a whip into the design. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ ๐Ÿ˜ณ ๐Ÿ˜€

Oh, I really like the new design! She’s the custom sign lady.

    hi jill,

i think the colors are just fine! the lettering i like too. nice combo. i especially like that orange block. it makes the whole thing stand out from the blue. nice blue. i wouldnยดt mind having a pick up truck myself.

i think youยดre an excellent signmaker.

    all the best,
    bernardo
