vehicle graphics: harris motorsports
Posted by Stuart Whitehouse on 29 March 2005 at 15:11This is my first post in this forum. I enjoy looking at other peoples work so I just thought I’d repay the favour. Hopefully I’ll find time to post more work in the future because I think this is one of the best parts of this website.
constructive criticism welcome
hopefully I’ve done this right – apologies if not!

Cool, I like doing racing graphics, if you look back to my Nice n Bright post you can see we do this kind of thing quite well.
I feel like I have a bit of creative license when doing these jobs, get to have a play around with ideasn all that!!
Nice Job Stuart
😀 😀

Love the Harris Motorsports bit, looks fantastic! 😀 As Archie says, racing graphics are often left to the creative genius of the signmaker (well, apart from the the racing sponsors wanting every name under the sun on it), so there’s no way you can critise it, there isn’t a right way or a wrong way. Its cool to let your ideas go on this type of stuff, wish I got to do more of it.
Really smart job though, cool to see it! 😀

I have to agree with Dewi, I don’t think there is a right or wrong way with these sort of jobs as you have no control over who sponsors the car and where they want the graphics.
Nice to start with a blank canvas though quite often they are just adding to what is already on there so you just have to make things fit the best you can.
Mini looks good by the way!!! -
thanks for the kind words. Like you all said, its nice to do jobs where you can actually test your design software rather than replicate other work or customer boring designs.
All logos were designed from scratch today, it was literally a blank canvas so I enjoyed the challenge. it actually looks better in the flesh as the picture doesn’t show off all the glittery vinyls like natural light does.

I bought the bike the day I borrowed it. I love it – don’t like the monday mornings with aching bones as mich though! -

Nice work Stuart
Intrigued by those wheels
The front wheels seem larger than the rear
Is it the camera shot?John

john
the wheels are a different size. fronts are 13″s and rears are 12″s. the front ones look bigger too, because they have a ‘beadlock’ machined to the rim. thats the row of bolts going round the rim – it holds the tyre on the rim so you can run really low pressures for extra grip without fear of punctures………
boring bit over now…………….

nice job mate. Well done
I usually steer clear of that sort of work here because just after you finish it, they usually say something like…. hey mate, money is a bit tight….any chance you want to swap the signs for a sponsorship…… 🙄
cheers
