  • vehicle blueprint source?

    hi,

as always, i’ve been asked to do reflective battenburg on a vehicle which has no outline, by that i mean that neither ingrams or impact libraries have them.

does anyone know of a reliable source of blueprints (something which i can scale up without being a total loss to pixelation, pdf’s maybe?). i can scale the drawing from the measurements, but could really do with this yesterday!

have a suzuki vitara (R reg, 5 dr, 97/98) which is to be an off road event ambulance, using my own scales initially, the majority has come up pretty good, but the front end was short (camera angle), what i do is make up a ‘kit’ out of promo vinyl, apply it, photograph it, and then rescale pics, and adjust the images where need be, to either fill gaps, allow for door handles, etc. the prob with the vitara is the poxy box curved arches, the vinyl goes around them ok, but does get pulled slightly off track, because the pic are on a curve, i can’t see how to accurately adjust my drawings.

i hate cutting on the vehicle if poss, but right now that’s my only option, ie, make oversize and trim with a scalpel, it just never looks as good!

cant help with pics but using paper templates helps because it will not distort as normal vinyl does.

if you have a grahtec you can use that to cut paper or put a pen in

Hugh, you may have missed it on the Ingrams CD as it is only in the "to scale" section, not full size.
I’ll post it up for you in the file swap forum.

that’d be good of you Peter. my copy of ingrams is a few years old now, and half of it won’t load, so i may well have missed it on there, for some reason the disc is scratched all over 😥

you could always email it if you like, i don’t think we’re supposed to post outlines! cheers.

As a GOLD member I can’t use PM’s for getting an email address.
I posted it as it’s an old file now and you do have the CD set.

    Thanks Peter,

I never had a set of discs, just one DVD rom. i bought is as a used genuine copy when i first started, paid about £35 for it, but if there’s supposed to be a set of them, there’s a good chance it’s hooky! might explain why it’s gone tits up!

the scale mark says it needs to be 2.48m, where is that measurment for? it’s not wheel centre to centre, or end to end, and my drawing is way of now! i’ve already trial fitted some cheap promo vinyl, and it was pretty close!

    cheers.

ps, you should be able to receive pm’s, not send them?

Oh yes, so I can. I didn’t notice because I have a popup blocker.

Select the whole image and change the size to 2000% and the measurement should read right between wheel centres.
