I don’t do many vans so I thought I’d stick this one on.

The wall sign was an experiment really. It’s a folded panel made of 5mm foamex. Seemed to work OK, although it needed a bit of a warm with the heat gun to get it to bend.

Nice work Andy. Clean design that looks good.

Let us know how well the folded panel fares. Was it a gloss or matt sheet?

nice and clean looking van and sign, how did you do the corners on the fomex sign I know it can be bent with heat but I would have thought corners could be tricky.

    Both look nice.

Just a thought re: the folded foamex.

Any particular reason why didn’t you just use quality superglue? It’s permenent, incredibly strong (stronger than the board usually) and would save a lot of fabrication time.

I’ve made a few foam boxes & stands over the years with a mixture of hot line bending & glues. Glue is definately easier, and can be made incredibly strong with a 5x5mm ‘fillet’ in the corners.

I did it the same way I do ali composite ones – rout then fold. I ran a line of pipeweld along the fold. Looked tidy enough. Just normal matt foamex.

I wouldn’t do anything big with foam, but for this (6 x 2.5 feet) it’s rigid enough.
