    Corel has an auto tracer.
    That would get you started.
You can trace an object, convert it to curves, export it, etc.
I am pretty much self-taught with Corel.
Fancy that, I am an artist and can draw or paint nearly anything.
But getting the damn computer do do what I want is a real pain!

Claire I would try doing a search on the boards as this sort of thing has been talked about before. A lot of people seem to be using corel and a few have said that the tracing and vectorising tools in x3 are pretty good. Don’t have any first hand experience with corel myself but it seems fairly popular and is not as pricey as some of the dedicated sign software.

Power trace in X3 is a major improvement over previous versions and X3 would serve you well for your trace and design requirements.
