    Hello All,
To cut a long story short, we have been in the stonemasonry business since 1910 (I’m the fourth generation mason) and until recently we have hand cut all our civic and memorial inscriptions. This includes hand carved Christian & Jewish religious images et cetera onto York stone (sandstone), limestone, slate, marble & granite. We have also done countless military insignia in addition to numerous other types of images by hand over the years.
However, basic economic factors dictates that we now have to sandblast the majority of our memorial work (the majority of potential customers are not normally prepared to pay for "traditional" hand craft these days) (chat.) .
    My question therefore is this:
The usual sign software is fairly generic in its provision of the type of images we usually deal with. In short, religious images and military badges/insignia. The problem however is finding where to purchase the type of images we require. I’ve tried web searches in addition to several printing suppliers but with the exception of the odd one or two images we have drawn a blank. Any suggestions?
BTW, we have Vinyl Master Pro and Corel v10.
    Your help would be appreciated.
    Thanks for reading this.
    Best wishes,
    Mike Delta.

    http://www.vectorart.com/
    This is from Roland’s site.
I believe they also sell single images.
I have used VectorArt for years.
The images are very clean and work well.
There are a few badges, but mostly USA police and fire related.
There are some Maltese crosses and religious motifs.
There are also sports items, pets, and other things that might be useful.

i believe that thre is a stone masons disc available, can’t remember 100% where i’ve seen it but believe its an Ingrams disc. You may find if it is an Ingram disc that Grafityp sell it check out link on home page. Don’t have Ingrams contact details to hand, maybe another member will beable to supply it.

    Hi Mike,

I think the disc you need is called MasonArt 😀

    Hi Marcella,
    Thanks for your input.
I was shown MasonArt at a trade show a couple of years back and it looked to me like it is made up from an earlier version of EasySign. The images are comprehensive though. However, we already have a sign package which I think is far superior to MasonArt except for the lack of "fit for purpose" images 🙁
I did consider purchasing MasonArt but the suppliers want £1800 (3,326.77 USD) 😮 which I consider to be way over the top for software that is fairly basic except for the fact that it does have plenty of images. It is dongle protected (nothing wrong with that of course) but I was reliably informed that should you accidentally break the dongle then the cost of replacement is almost as the price of the original software.
I’ll be giving them a wide berth I think.
    Once again thanks.
    Regards,
    Mike.

    Hi Again,
Someone has sent me an image to play about with from MasonArt and he tells me that if all I want is to use a software program for sandblasting stone then MasonArt is perfectly adequate. However, he goes on to say that it does have certain limitations (his version is a few years old though) especially if you want to do serious art work. He uses Adobe for his more complex work.
One problem though. The image he has emailed to me is:
    ANGEL06.MA
How would I open such a file?
    Many thanks,
    Mike Delta
