Nothing special, but this is a van I did today. Took about an hour and a half to do the 2 sides, back and bonnet. I think it’s turned out okay, still waiting to see what the gent thinks of it.

All 751 series, the only trouble spots where on the recesses on the other side (hence the reason I took the picture from this side 😛 ) Anyway, job done and I’m warm again 😀

Also I charged £150 for this, does that sound reasonable? After talking to other uksb members I thought it would be wiser to charge a little more and work a little quicker (used to take me about 2 1/2 hours to do stuff like this).

    Cheers, Dewi

Looks pretty cool to me Dewi.

Yer it would have taken me a couple of hours I guess, I am such a perfectionist it holds me back really. Price seems fare to me.

    Cheers

    Dave

I will get round to showing some of my stuff one of these days.

    Dewi,

    The price looks about right.

All I would ask is where did you measure it from. Assuming that the company name and phone number are parallel, I would guess that it was from the bottom of the panel because the name looks like it is dropping off to the right. I’m not saying I am right, but I would have lined the name up with the top of the panel and had the phone number off with the bottom edge.

What I really hate is the Vito. There is absolutely nothing to use as a datum on them. Even the grey stripe at the bottom is tapered.

Thanks for the comments guys 😀 Glad to hear I’m about right on price, I haven’t done too many vans, so its still a little bit difficlut to judge whether I’m over/under pricing when it comes to stuff like this.

John, to be honest I started measuring from the top of the panel and it didn’t look brilliant so I dropped the S a little to get it to look right. Looking at the picture I could’ve brought the other side up a little and it probably would’ve looked alot better, and I’ve seen the mistake with the phone number now 😳 That should have been more to the centre 😳

Still learning on my feet though, I’ve done two Kangoos before and always had the same problem, where to measure from. Why can’t vehicle manufacturers make a signmaker’s friendly van! 🙄 😉

While I was doing it though, I managed to get another van job 😀 This ones a Fiat Scudo, so I’m hoping that’ll be a little more straight forward.

    Cheers, Dewi

Ah, Scudo. We like them. No panels and lots of nice straight parallel lines. 😀

In my picture above, if I want to wind that client up I ask them why they chose the Vito – was their choice in any way based on ugliness. If I am annoyed with them I tell them they look like ice cream vans with that awful roof.

What I forgot to mention when commenting on your job is that that is the sort of work we like. Quick and easy. Get them in , bish-bosh, get them out and look for the next job. I find that that is where the profit is to be made and whilst I am impressed by some of the brilliant designs on this board I cannot get my clients to pay the price. 🙁

    Hi Dewi,
That looks great nice & simple but effective design.

I did one of these vans last week, 2 side and back for about the same price (well a little bit more), i measured from the bottom of the main panel because i thought the top was curve.. then laid everything from that. took me about 2-2.5 hours to do, the Vito is truly a pain i just line it up sloping in the panel other wise it looks totally pi**ed, pretty much as shown.

    Vans and lorries, Great earners!

As for lining up, well I would tend to disagree with you John.

Yes smaller vans are more of a pain to line up. We always line graphics up, like the type Dewi has above, to true horizon especially a Vauxhall van (forgot the name, like a estate but the van one!) there is no way you can line up to any contours as they slope to much.

That Vito to me, unless its just the pic, looks to far down on the left and I would of gone to true horizon. 🙂

Dewi, nice clean job, hard to tell if it is dropping down at the right or not, hopefully not.

😳 Thats my yard, unfortunately a tad small. I can just about fit a transit in there (SWB one anyway). I didn’t have the keys to the van so I couldn’t move it to get a better pic, and by the time it was moved, it was a little dark 🙁

Anyway, no worries 😀 It was yellow vinyl, with the swooshy bit done in a medium grey. I figured with the text being so fine, it’d work okay in those colours. The bonnet one looked quite good, but I couldn’t get a decent photo 😕

nice one Dewi, Looks straight to me and lynn, we have a kangoo and compared to some they are pretty straight forword for aligning.
Apart from the Asrtra The next worse one is the Fiat Diabolico.
All the panels look square, but there not!
Price seems fair, was that 1 1/2 hours including cut? If it was just fitting, GET YER FINGER OUT LAZY SOD 😉

Thank you again for the comments guys 😀 I’m chuffed, professional 😀 😀

Wasn’t including the cutting, weeding and taping Peter, I cheated, got staff to do that bit 😳 My only excuse, it was cold today and I needed to sit by the fire and warm up for the job ahead 🙄

    Cheers, Dewi
