    Hi all I hope you can help me..

    I have a lap top with no com port I also own a Plotter with a com port and no USB port. I brought a cable off eBay to change my usb port to a com port including the soft wear. but I can not get this to work.

    I was wonder if any of you lovely lot have had the same problem and got a round the problem

    Please help…… 😥

    Depends on the lead you have bought really. The better ones are manufactured by Keyspan. It is also dependent on what software you are using.

    What normally happens is that the cutting software is looking for COM1 (serial port) but the USB Serial convertor normally assigns it as COM3.

    Let us know a bit more. Try changing your cutting software to use COM3.

    You will have to map a usb port to the serial converter. I use this for my plotter, just takes a bit of messing around to ensure the comms protocols match.
