that sounds like a port problem. Check that your com port is still enabled in control panel, check that the baud rate, data stop bits etc are all the same as the settings on the plotter.
Check your serial cable is ok and not damaged either.

I had the same problem a couple of months back with my Mimaki. But a new Mimaki serial cable sorted it out. An ordinary serial cable from a computer shop is less likely to work as the pins are reversed in a plotter serial cable. It’s worth buying a serial from whoever supplied your plotter.

    hope this helps 😀

thanks marcella, i have just had the cable checked, it has 5 cables inside and all 5 pins operate perfectly, the baud rates are the same, as thats all i can see on the cutter, not sure how to find the data stop bits etc

did you check that the port was still enabled?

I’m not familiar with your cutter so I can’t say where to find all the set up information. But if you’ve found the baud rate, then all info on the cutter set up will be in the same place ……

Are you able to check your com port is working with something else plugged into it? So that at least you can rule that out.

should have mentioned ……….. it’s been discussed on the boards here before that PCuts will change their baud rate for no apparent reason. So if it stops cutting again ……….. just go straight to that to check it 😀
