URGENT ADVICE needed what vinyl to use on a trailer with special surface
Posted by Pane Talev on 21 June 2018 at 12:53Good day all.
This morning client delivered trailer to me but Metamark MD5 does not stick properly after few test.
Please advice what media to use? / how to approach this job?
I hope you can see the surface well on the photo.
Thank you in advance.
P.S. The sticker from the manufacturer that was already on the trailer was sticking much better than MD5.

I was just on the phone with them. The lady told me they don’t have anything high grab.
Jamie, where do you buy your MacTac WW300?
-

I sent a quote based on Arlon 8000 and Orafol 3951HT
The other Metamark and the Mac Tac are sold as 4 year vinyl and that bellow my requirements.
Europoint are out of stock on Orafol 3951HT, any other Orafol sellers you know? -
Tennants UK for Ofafol (Emma)
The Arlon is not repositionable if it touches the panel its stuck, unbelievably sticky, one chance film, we use it for sticking to plastic dashboards it’s the only thing that will stick to them, we have tried them all. -
Thanks Pane, you learn something everyday on here.
Never thought of lifespan with this vinyl, only use for stickers though so am OK.Can you let me know how you get on with orafol?
-
Metamark does their MD5 with a high tack adhesive.
Arlon DPF8000 is the nuts, I find it really good to work with considering the amount of adhesive and how well it sticks

Hi Pane,
I’m not trying to teach you to suck eggs but due to the texture of the trailer which ever material you use don’t forget to pay attention to the edges.

Good morning all.
Peter, please clarify. What shall I do with the edges, special sealant?
-
Hi Pane,
The only reason that I say pay attention to the edges is water egress due to the texture of the plastic panel. You could use a 3m sealer but whatever you do heat the edges and use a felt squeegee to ensure full adhesion.
I hope this makes sense.
