Hi Guys, I found plenty of old posts past 2009 but i wanted to see if I can get some up to date advice on a black banding issue on sp300i

No problems with other colours just black, done all the cleans, profile settings, loosened roll, calibration etc etc but still get banding on black. even getting it on registration marks… but not so much of a banding but almost like a horizontal texture on the ink.

Heads firing ok, however when I print the test print to check the nozzles, they seem a bit wonky and miss aligned but all there.

Whenever I have a problem like this i always revert to using md5 with the correct profile for testing, as this always used to print perfect.

Roland are a bit slow to come back to me and can never give me a definitive answer…. typical when I’m just past the end of the first years warranty…. sheesh!

    Hi Mo
I am by no means an expert, but from what you describe, and with the heads mis-firing, it sounds like you have an overspray effect so the ink is being laid on thicker on some passes than others?

If that is the case, I have absolutely no idea what the solution is!

The test print colours are mis-aligned along the top and bottom. When we have had bad banding its been a head gone. We have a service contract and they change it. You could try cleaning the face of the head with plenty of cleaning fluid and very light pressure.
