Sounds like your encoder strip. I would start by giving it a wipe.

Hi gary have tried that, seems to be doing it only on certain jobs, one job for some reason will not export some of the text as an eps when i delete some lines it exports ok. i export as a jpg to try and get job done would this be the reason ???? I wouldnt be the brightes spark around the machine !!

Only time I’ve had that it was a dirty encoder strip, make sure you’ve cleaned it properly all the way along.

Don’t use a solvent either, just a clean cloth or I use the cleaning swabs with nothing on.

JPG shouldn’t be a problem.

As Stephen says file format shouldn’t be an issue. Try taking the encoder strip out and turn it upside down(after cleaning it that is)or maybe the sensor which reads the encoder strip is faulty.

hi guys thanks for your help, i have cleaned the strips but the clear strips are very grumpy were could i get new ones ? machine still running off and i have lost manual !!

I had this problem last month except all my prints were shifting colours, if this is only doing with certain file formats its highly unlikely that its the linear strip, although when my encoder strip was on its way out it done it ever so often but eventually packed in, I wouldn’t really recommend cleaning it at all since a compatible strip is only approx 30quid from tech8.eu . Well it was for me the last time I looked, all you need to do is cut to fit your printer.

If you can get into service mode on your machine, run your linear encoder calibration test, if this fails you know that it’s either your strip or the sensor.

strip approx 30quid, sensor approx 60quid.
