ultra destructible vinyl has anybody used this?
Posted by Jason Davies on 7 July 2006 at 22:08Just bought some of this from spandex, my client is looking for a vinyl which is ‘impossible’ to remove once fitted, this is supposed to do the trick after 20 minutes, however followed the instructions online tried to remove it after 1 hour, then 3 hours and it still came off all be it in bits, but was still easily removeable. I have just stuck a bit on the back of a remote control and popped it in the fridge (just in case its too warm here in Wales – joke).
Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I am thinking of sending the roll of vinyl back.Cheers

the point is that it does come off in bits, its for applications such as a permit on a windscreen, so that in cannot be removed and put on another vehicle..Peter

Thanks Peter, I was given differnet information to this, can you recommend a more resilient vinyl which would meet my spec?

Jason.
There is nothing that sticks permanent, just some things are harder to remove than others. depending on what substrata your client is applying to, screenprint is about as non removable as you will get. That is directly applied..can you give us a bit more info..

Sure, my client wants to attach security stickers to mobile phones, I also looked at the security label stock but thats only to show that the label has been peeled off, the void part (which is left) is still quite easy to remove, he wants something that is going to mark the phone if its to be removed. My advice was the same as Marcella’s we can make it tedious to remove but thats all as far as I know.
Cheers

the whole point about tamper or non removable is that they cannot be removed and replaced. so for security, if the device comes back without the sticker, the warranty is void. so the ultra destructible or security should serve the purpose.

PeterI agree peter. I print to a tamper evident tape here from oracal although I am not sure it is an oracal product. It is almost impossible to remove anyway, but if you try, it comes off in tiny bits. I’ve had to use a razor to get it off my table top, otherwise I’d have been there for ages. 🙄

Ultra destruct just comes off in tiny pieces.
I have seen suppliers of labels that when removed leave the words "warranty void" or similar behind. Silver/chrome looking stuff. I don’t know how they make them but I would imagine they are available from Stocksigns or someone like that?I have never seen a vinyl that is impossible to remove.

The ultra destructible material from spandex is as good as you will get of any ‘label’ material – we have been selling labels for years – security labels only act as a deterrent – nothing is permanent.
We also use 3M 225 sign material which, once stuck, is better than any ‘label’ material.
always remind customer to clean surface properly and leave for at least 48 hours for adhesive to cure – we have customers who puts them on and then try to remove immediately – then ring up and complain!
