Hi,
I can see a profile button at the bottom of peoples posts when i click i get do not have access.
If this is the case for everyone why have it their as it appears to be of no use or do i have to ask nicely to get this switched on.
I have no objections to having my details listed it is my professional address. I get mailshots all the time the bin is one of the greatest inventions and anyone in forestry knows that for trees to be of use forest need cutting and planting. I can understand that for those working from home may prefer their home address not to be listed so they coulod opt out.
I think it is of use to see the background of the person making the post gives them more cred. Could i suggest that optional info of number of employee’s,turnover,product/service list (with no touting ie using words trade service or pricing) be added to a published profile.
Even if this was just extended to full members i am sure it would be of use.
Please post something your comments or a straight yes or no.

its a bit frustrating at times i know, but there is good reason for no access to profiles. its a bit long winded for me to go into right now but ill try and reply better tonight.
i have had many problems arrise through people having access to profiles.
e.g. many folk work from home and do not want their details on the net.
someone has a tiff on the boards with another member and suddenly he is getting mail order stuff through his door by the truck load, subscription to porn, you name it, it has been done…
even people registering on other sites under someone elses details from this site and causing bother.. all very bizarre i know, but does and has happend.
when people register here i enforce full details given.. this is for security reasons only. if i enforce this, i must also respect these are “personal details” & keep them private from public veiw.on the other hand..
in the members section there is a forum for posting your services & contact details if you wish. -

Could you ever just add your contact info as your signature?
I think it is a good thing to keep profiles private.
I would not want anyone to know that I actually live in a mental institution!

Just part of the discussion software, could be enabled I suppose and I assume all moderators can see this as default, although privacy should be respected, if you need to have full on communication and want other users to know your full identity and address details, just add your web url.

I can remember this subject comming up a while ago, Robert did explain at the time all the reasons for it. Perhaps it might be a good idea to remove the profile button Robert then people wouldnt ask.
I agree with some of the comments made above, the pm system seems to work ok for contacting people and if you web site details are included then people can contact you through your own site. -

So basically if i want to stalk members then i can track them through their www if listed.
Got it sorted it is just that the long dark nights will coming aorund soon and just need to find something to do.
As its darker you won’t see me in the bushes at the bottom of your garden!
But i can see you………………..
