UK SIGN MAKER RUNS THE LONDON MARATHON
Resident sign maker Danny Smalldridge will run the forthcoming Flora London Marathon on the 18th of April 2004 for charity. The charity Danny will be running for is the Neonatal Intensive Care Ubit Appeal. In which he hopes to raise £2004 for this deserving charity. uksignboards.com would like to ask “any” visitors to the site to dig deep & donate some money to help achieve Danny’s goal.

For more info on the charity you can find them on http://www.royallondonchildren.org

Any sponsors/donations can be sent to:-

    Danny Smalldridge
    Signworks South East
    203 oxlow Lane
    Dagenham
    Essex
    RM10 7YA

All cheques should be made out to ‘The Children’s Fund’

I would like to add that Danny has offered to run the marathon
In a uksignboards.com t-shirt, of which he will have his picture taken crossing the finish line completely knackered of course & sporting his t-shirt.. What a picture!
I am sure we will all love to see it.. I know I would. 😉 😆 😆

With this in mind I would like to add a bit more to this and keep the momentum
Of this post going by starting a small, fun competition to run with it. (Pardon the pun)
I would like anyone on the site to design the t-shirt Danny will run in.
The t-shirt will be white in colour and must have uksignboards.com on the front and rear, easily read. Full details of this will follow by Thursday evening.

In the mean time I would like to ask any sign makers on the site that can make a “one off” t-shirt for this event, to contact me by email or PM.
If you think you would be interested in making one for Danny please contact me with an idea of a price & turnaround. The t-shirt must be of fair quality and be printed in whatever design the boards come up with. (Within reason of course)
I would be interested also in guidelines to submit for folk wishing to take part in designing.

    Suppliers please read!
If you are a supplier & think that you could raise some money via this site by auctioning one or more of your products for Danny’s charity, (the site in return will give you full publicity throughout. please contact me by email. I am all ears..

Anyone else got any ideas.. Please get in touch!

I`ve got something I don`t use that could be auctioned off.

“Font Detective” software. You scan in the font you want to find, click on a couple of the letters, press go and the sofware goes through your system and finds the font or the closest fonts available.

it cost £50 ish from signmaster. comes with all the instructions etc.

    any bids?

    all for charity folks. 😛

its just a pity the new auction forum hasnt been completed yet or this would have been perfect launch for it.. oh well.. 🙄

i will announce/get things in orer by thursday if all goes well..

    keep any ideas coming 😉

I have sent PM regarding shirt, my place is across the road from Danny so will talk to him to decide on best type of shirt etc. I use easycut which cannot overlap colour onto colour which is probably the only real restriction & that it is a vector file suitable for Flexi.
Best of luck Dan speak to you soon

sounds great mate.. can it be printed.. i mean can there be say a blend/digital print. not saying the design will be.. just so we know how restricted the design will/wont be.

    thanks mate 😉

    Robert
if i use easycut then no blend is possible, easycut is basically just a textile vinyl so if you can do it with vinyl’ then i should beable to produce with easycut. Second option is to do a inkjet print onto the shirt the feel isn’t so good but allows anything that you can do with your normal desktop printer. One point to bear in mind is if Danny has to wear a number needs to be considered if the uksignboards is to be seen

yep not a problem mate.. what about multiple olours next to each other?

  • Kevin Flowers

    Robert,
Colours next to each other yes, within reason due to easycut being on solid application sheet registration can become problem. However another thought subject to colours may do in Flock which allows colours to be overlapped and due to application film being transparent no real registration problems. Out of the different options i am sure we can find away to accomadate any design.

Do you not have to apply years in advance? I thought they had many times the number of applications than they had places every year.

Rob I can guarentee you a place for next year now if fancy it!.
I always get a place as a ‘gold bond’ runner which means you are guarenteed a place in return for raising a certain amount of money, hence my figure 0f £2004.

If you do want to give it a go let me know and i’ll sort it, i’ll even give you a training schedule.

    Cheers

No problem rob, i;ll get some info together for you.

As regards to mileage, the marathon itself is 26.2 miles and the training schedule should have you covering 300+ miles in the 6 months before race day! (<(
