  • UK company re Cast Brass sign

    Hi all, Ive been asked if i do (i dont) a Cast Brass sign, its wanted for someones boat i think. Double checked they didnt want a brass sign routed/engraved and they said no definately cast. Do any of you know a company in the UK that might be able to do this? I can just point the customer in their direction many thanks jean

    Hi Jean,

    Signs Of The Times do cast signage. Maybe they can help – although I’d be a bit weary about brass being used on a boat as not really suitable for external use use.

    Why would brass not be suitable for external use?

    Brass weathers outdoors, and most ships and boats have brass bells and fittings etc. All it needs is a regular polishing.

    Unless it is of some Historical or other interest then it would probably be cheaper to buy a new Bell rather than get a cast of the bell they have.

    Having spent 20 years in the Royal Navy I can confirm this:

    Brass weathers outdoors, and most ships and boats have brass bells and fittings etc. All it needs is a regular polishing.
