  • Trying to source Aluminium framing, help please?

Hoping someone can help. Ive been asked to supply some signs for a new customer. He has a blank sign that he wants me to try and replicate. The problem is he cant remember where he got it. Its basically an alu composite board with an alu frame. Ive found one supplier that does both plastic and alu lengths of framing but the alu doesnt have the profile that the plastic does. The customer is determined he wants the alu frame but i can’t find anywhere that does anything similar.
Does anyone know of any suppliers of lengths of alu framing material? Similar to this.

its very similar to Bullnose aluminium trim.
bullnose is a front loading trim very similar to panatrim.
SMP stocked it amongst many others, but they were recently acquired by Ashby trade supplies who still stock all SMP products.
I would give ashby trade supplies a call and ask. the good thing is, they will build the sign using the trim of your choice, so you get it built to size and also powder coated the colour you need, if you wish.

Thanks Robert. I was on Ashby’s site earlier but must have missed it. It actually has more of a profile compared to bullnose. I think the closest will be the rollerbead profile

You might find that it’s not a standard sign frame Ewan, come across this a few times with aluminium framing. might be worth contacting some of the bigger aluminium stock holders as well as some of them seem to keep all sorts of different profiles.
Only one I have really seen like that is the plastic type that jag & other sign suppliers use.

Yeah its almost the same profile as the JAG one but is def aluminium. I showed the customer the JAG trim but he seems pretty set on aluminium

Some years ago I had a long fibreglass sign with aluminium frame not dissimilar to your photo, try Icon Sign Manufacturing http://www.icon-signs.co.uk.

Alan, your a star. Their traditional frame is exactly what I’m after. Cheers

That doesn’t look the same to me Ewan, similar yes but enough of a difference that you would see it without having to look to hard.

Yeah I know what you mean Martin but what I really meant was the "style" was exactly what I was after. I have explained to the customer that I might not get the exact profile but as long as its in that style he’s ok with it
