Buenos Dias Amigos (‘ello me dearios),

Greetings again from sunny Spain…..I’ve gorra bit of a problem getting an answer to a query about transfer papers for laser printers. These are the papers for printing a t-shirt transfer on then heat pressing to a garmnent

As I understand it, there are two types of papers available – one for using in a laser copier and another for using in a laser printer.

Now, our paper supplier sent us some paper for copiers and we whacked it through our printer and it was a total balls-up, the resulting paper jam nearly ruined our fuser and when we tried to put a bit of it on a trial shirt, the paper backing wouldn’t come off.

The question is this…am I right in my assumption that the papers are different? If so, does anyone know of a manufacturer our paper suppliers can contact to get us some. If my assumption is not correct, what’s wrong?

I’ve got 5 orders for t-shirts to get out this week and now we don’t screen print anymore (anybody want a complete screen print set up?) I was hoping to produce them by the laser print method.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

Going to lunch in a minute…….a 3 course meal – soup or salad, followed by a choice of Andalucian specialities – chicken, fish or something else, with a half bottle of wine, fresh crusty bread a sweet and a cup of coffee for the princely sum of 5€ (work it out in pounds sterling) so who cares that the French bints are better looking! Also, I propose to put to the vote that Spanish Rioja is far far better than the gnats that the frogs produce and call wine…….if that doesn’t start another WW I’ll be v. surprised.

    Cheers for now

Cheers Lee mate, first you ask for help then rub our noses in the fact that your off for some grub then a siesta, good bloke you are 😆 😆 😆

Have you tried the stuff that goes through a paint jet for T shirts?
Having worked in print for years I can only assume it is as you say but I thought that the way a laser printer and copier work is pretty much the same, does the printer have a by-pass unit, in this I mean a seperate feed rather than the ordinary A4 paper section, if it does you might try printing it again from the by-pass section.

Oh and I hope it rains and yer choke on your wine 😆 😆 😆 😉

As far as I’m aware (as I’ve used both) they are both much the same. I think laser printer stuff is more anti-curl (snag-proof) as it tends to get shoved or dragged through more rollers than in a copier. The temperature is about the same though – unless things have changed that I don’t know about.

I’m interested in your screen-print setup, please email or PM me details.

    Steve.

PS: I agree with the Rioja statement, although the French grapesqueezers have some mighty fine wines too! I come from Gibraltar, lived in Spain also, Father still does (Alfaz). Many a nippy heid on Rioja.

Sod the T shirts. I’ll join you for lunch though.

Spanish women are better than French, but Rioja? Do me a favour.

Ok here’s what i can tell you:

The paper is the same for laser printers as for copiers. However some work better than others (a case of trial and error), some papers vary from laser printer to laser printer as well as with copiers. What Copier have you got??

Make sure your feeding the paper in via the manual tray, generally one by one is best otherwise the papers can stick together with static and cause a major jam in your machine.

Are you using A4 or A3 papers???? or A3 papers cut down to A4????

If your using A3 Papers cut down or A4 papers try getting hold of A4R it runs through so much better. Normal A4 is just A3 cut down so your feeding the paper through the copier with the grain going in the wrong direction as it were. This can cause problems with jamming.

One other thing, I assume your using a colour copier, black and white copiers or laser printers cannont be used with transfer paper as the fusing temperature is just too high and melts the paper.

I hope this goes some way to helping

Contact your paper or copier supplier for specific details on how to set up your machine. They are all different. Some you need to use the thick paper setting, others not.

    As Lorraine says…..always manual feed.

Try the Magic Touch website. I think they have different set up details for copiers.

PS: i hope it’s blxxxx hot while your printing too! (hot) (hot)

Not having a laser copier and not doing T shirts I don’t suppose I can be of much help but one thing that occured to me straight away was did you have the paper round the right way ? I know it sounds really stupid to ask but it can be easily done with any printer.

    Good Moning all……

It’s another freezing cold day in paradise…..7.55 a.m. and 29 degrees…oh well, we’ll have to suffer and drink a bit more.

With regard to my query about lasers and heat transfers, thanks all a million for your advice…it seems that I was right (for once) and the heat is too much for the paper in my laser printer. So there we go then, another bright idea for making life easier down the toilet…it’s back to the inkjet.

As a new active subscriber to the site, it seems as though I have jioned a club whose like minded members are nearly as daft as I am…thanks for making me welcome chaps & chapesses.

Well, work to do….a Spanish bloke’s coming in for me to put some foreign stuff on his lorry and he’s going to try and bid me down so that I’m paying him!! That’s how it is here.

    Hasta Luego
