    Very nice .

What a pitty you haven’t done his price list to match, I hate it when people get lovely signs made up then use their home computer or just hand write other messages on their windows, and add stickers to their vans.

Lovely job, how long did that take to make?

    Cheers

😉 I added the name to their A board so they dont just have the bit of paper in the window! I know what you mean though.I’ll try and convince them to let me do them a menu!. The fascia took a few days back and forth, Paint the background (day 1), draw out and goldsize the lettering, gold leaf(day 2), add shadow and white lettering (day3) I did pop back and add the border when I fitted the projecting sign.

    nice work aj 😛

i like your white lettering….reminds me of my earlier days with the sign writing 😀 you just got on with the job, did not mind if a letter was not spot on….not like now with the accuracy & sharpness of the cutters, i tend to forget the painting way, as our everyday work seems to get into a routine of everything looking real sharp 😀 (technology eh) 🙄 a bit like playing old vinyl & cd’s 😉

keep up the good work 😀

…I bet most folks are wondering what the egg is for.
I know! But I have heard that a potato works just as well….

Lynn, you rub the egg/potato on the part of the sign you don’t want to gold leaf so it doesn’t stick to it. Right, Jill? Aj?

Now that’s a question I cannot answer. I have only heard of the potato way.

Marek wins a gold star & it is raw egg white.

Jill if it’s raw wouldn’t it just run every where?

You paint it onto the areas where you don’t want the gold to stick (after diluting it with water)
If you keep the panel flat, gravity holds it in place. But a skilled painter knows just how far to push the envelope before they get a drip.
I prefer the potato method myself.
Any time I ever gild, the areas where the gold sticks to by accident are always shinier than the gold parts!

The egg white and water method works!

    or:

    the potato

    or:

gild and then remove stray gold by using masking tape….press it on and pull the gold off

    or:

use a quick wipe of high temp reducer to remove stray gold

    or:

apply a liquid furniture polish….wait over night…wipe off.

I’m gonna be outta here for at least 2 weeks…..my home putter froze up….I’m in Bend Oregon at a library putter…….

    I’m a Grandfather!!!!!!! Hanna is 6 weeks old…..real pretty redhead!! 🙂
Now I’m really feelin old! 🙁

I hope to be back mid july.

Or french chalk, dust whole board, size, gild then wipe off dust and excess gold.
