i went through various suppliers for kits and found smiths to be the best on price. from memory, they were half the price of some and smiths were supplying 3M diamond grade, whilst the others were nikkalite or something like it.

you will find others under kit suppliers the uksb toolbar also…

Rob, they are very much trade suppliers and have quoted cheaper than Smiths, for me anyway, on most occasions. I dont know about prices for diamond grade though, only ever had prices for standard engineering grade for chapter eight, and blulite use oracle, for the fluorescent and reflective, so quality is good.
They (blulite) also had kits available when Smiths had not yet made templates, and could not supply without me providing the measurements in template form, so turnaround was not good enough for my requirements.
Anyway, always worth ringing round for quotes though,Peter

Standard reflective vinyls? Why not make your own Peter… after all we are sign makers. 😀
we make all our own chevron kit templates then cut the vinyl.
it is when it comes to the high-end conspicuity materials where we have the problem. by that i mean "cutting it" on our machines. conspicuity vinyls require a flatbed cutter and that is why we outsource only on that type of kit. however, we were toying with the idea of going for a flatbed but do not have enough demand for conspicuity, but plenty demand on the kits though, which is good and we are building up a good library of kits now.
Wm Smiths have a big zund vacuum flatbed with an edge sealing head on it that seals the edges of the vinyl as its cut. impressive stuff. saw it when i had a tour of their facilities last year.
they also have an extensive library of templates, though i am sure there will be some they may not have, but do offer to create if need be.as i said, had a look on the blue light website but saw no mention of a dedicated trade service. that’s why i was asking or i would be more than happy to put the recommendation on the toolbar. if i am missing the obvious, please advise and ill add to the toolbar.

Can anyone confirm whether Bluelite and PVL are one and the same or, are they separate entities (not just on paper) following a split or something???
in a past working life I used to visit PVL as a customer of my employer, Bluelite seem to now have PVL’s old unit, while PVL a new address just down the road.
edit: just looked em up. PVL have indeed moved but Bluelite are not in their old unit, they’re about 300yrds down the road from each other – probably eat at the same cafe! my mistake as in reflection (no pun intended), most of the units down there look the same! there’s also another signy on the estate – or was, 3 within 1/2 mile.
Edit 2. just reading through Bluelites site ‘about us’ and they used to be called Halo, Halo is the name i remember from PVL so I guess thay are linked after all. not that it really matters, just curious as to why both divisions would offer the same product?for kits i’ve used William smith mostly, i’ve made a few of my own engineering sets and also supplied templates to WS, its nicer to just buy off the shelf though!
