Blimey! You’re braving Manchester?? 😮 😮 If you fancy a brew, drop in, if you fancy a pint, you’re paying! 😉 😉
Cheers, Dewi

Hey Rob, let me know which day you are in the Hull area so i can warn the police to put a speed trap up 😉

Ewww thats cruel… a ‘Wanted’ poster in Moss Side would be crueler though 😉
Seriously though, watch where you’re parking when you reach Manchester, they should rename it Clampit City! 👿
Cheers, Dewi

😆 😆 😆
cheers guys 😉 i think 😮 😆
i plan to do manchester, then portsmouth, then leceister then hull then york then home. or vice versa.
dependding on when i leave i may have manchester done while your still in bed dewi mate 🙁 i will travel during the night so by the time the sun comes up i hope to have manchester done and almost down by bristol.
i hate traveling during the first day as its constant traffic jams. 😕 -

My truck was clamped there a year back, i got back as the bloke was fitting it to the front wheel. He refused to remove it but when i said if you put it on the front and damage a brake pipe or whatever, he would have a hell of a damages claim coming, so i persuaded him to fit it to the middle axle of the unit, accepted the ticket and calmly climbed into my truck, started it up, and casually pressed the “lift axle” (middle) button and drove off, you should have seen his face harhar 😆 😆 😆

And where are you going to find the room to put another, i hear the billposters are millionaires down that way *hair*

You might be confusing Moss Side with somewhere else Gaz 😮 If you spot a millionarre in Moss Side, more often than not they have 20 bodyguards and some heavy artillary in the boot of the Merc 😉
I drove through recently and I wanted to turn right at a set of traffic lights. My right side indicator was broken, so I popped my arm out of the window to manually indicate. When I got my arm back, I was minus a watch and someone had written ‘Chump wuz ere’ in red biro! 😉
🙁 Most unfair Robert, I was looking forward to a free beer or 2 🙁 On the bright side, I save on sugar, milk and coffee now 😉

Yeah, Mosside Dewi, where the dogs roam in packs for protection, where the coppers patrol in 12’s, where the streets have no names and you know the right way by counting the bodies on the street corners……. 😮
hehe

does this mean its dodgy for me to be fitting signs at 5.30am? 😮
ide better take the hilti-gun 😆 😆
-
You’ll be okay Robert as long as you keep you arms inside the vehicle at all times, exit the vehicle slowly when necessary and keep your doors locked at all other times. 😉
Its not that bad really, about the same as areas in every major city where you just have to keep an eye out. Good luck with the signwork there though and I hope the tour of duty goes well 😀 Just thank your lucky stars you don’t need to go to Grimsby! 😉 😉

cheers mate.. i feel much safer 😉
to be honest ive done tons of jobs like these. my tact is to break the back of the driving during the night when the roads are not busy at all.. to get as far south as i can on the first night.
manchester is a very quick maiuntenance job so i will get that done in about 1 hour then im off on my travels again.
i arrive at the job and set up, then get to hotel and get a kip. next morning i feel great, get the job done and onto the next.. normaly doing this on the first day gets me ahead of time. so i do the job and can get a good meal and drink that night and relax… so there is method to my madness.. -
Yeah, GRIMsby!, yer right Dewi but at least i know the road out, y’know, the one with the 2 machine-gun posts and barbed wire down each side of it. Now take LEIGH in Lancs, well what can we say about that. One area in particular where the kids walk up to you and say “psst, wanna sweetie”, where it’s so dangerous to stop your car that the traffic lights are on pemanent green, where the school teachers wear body armour (:) ,and the correct way to address them is “Yo Bitch!” or “Yo Mutha!” and that’s just the NURSERY kids………………..Yeah, sunny Leigh, in the heart of Lancs, a luvverly place to be!
😆 😆 😆 😆

LOL 😆 😆 😆 😆
I see you’ve visited Leigh more than once then Gaz 😉
Cheers, Dewi
P.S. I’ve been laughing at that for about 10 minutes 😀 😀 😆 😀

How did the Tour of Duty go Robert? And did you leave Manchester with everything you entered it with? (Barring the sign of course) 😉

hi dewi, to be honest mate, it went very well actualy. the only problem was mnchester 😮 i was arrived at 5.30am and drove around manchester united football ground at least 100 times. the best of it is, when i found it guess what was right next to it..? (Europoint Displays) 😮 😮 if the place was open i would have went in and seen them, ive been meaning to get down there for so long. genuine meeting. but keep putting it off.. it was bizarre!
anyway, the sign was just a repair to an old sign to the rear of a building. (insurance job) to be honest the whole sign was in such a state i dont know why they didnt get a new one.
anyway.. 30 mins on site and i was off again. arrived in portsmouth about 12noon & setup scaffold and began next signs.. these ones 16 foot by 8 foot and a couple 8 foot by 4 foot. did the big one then headed to hotel. went for a meal, had a few drinks then bed. next morning did the rest of the signage and headed to leciester. applied graphics to a van and headed to nottingham. booked into city hotel and went for a meal.. had a few drinks then bed.
next day drove to hull and fitted a 12 foot x 6 foot sign then drove home.all the signs went up without a problem, the driving was the killer 🙄
it was agood crack actualy. we did sign van spotting..(very sad i know) 😆 seen about 12 maybe more. ill post the names tommorrow 😉
had a good old chin wag about this and that.. had too actualy nothing else to do.. and boy did some bad jokes surface. 😕
best place i have seen in my travels had to be “beverly” very tradional, well kept town.. loved it.i wish i had more time though i would certainly have popped in to see some of you. you included dewi, just a pitty i was at your door before the milk man 😆 😆

Great to hear all went well 😀 The Europoint thing is a tad bizarre. I was parked around the side next to the skip less than 12 hours earlier!! Wish I’d known which place it was in advance as I know the area down there quite well.
Be interesting to see who you saw on your travels. I made a longish journey just before xmas, alone and bored, I decided to count the number of cats eyes in the road 😕 That didn’t last long. Then I started speaking to myself in a Scottish accent, trying to sound as much like Sean Connery as possible. You’d think that was the worst, but then…. I began to mimmick other drivers, copying thier actions but this time with a running commentary in an Irish accent! 😮
Needless to say I don’t relish the thoughts of any more long journeys, they reveal too much about my mental well-being 😉
Glad to hear all the signs went up okay as well though. Must’ve been exciting in some respects being able to see such a broad range of areas in such a short time.
Cheers, Dewi
