  • Tool holder/advice needed for Gerber Engraver?

Posted by Ian Hatfield on 20 May 2010 at 13:28

Can anyone help I have lost the tool holder for my engraver on a Dimension 200 router. I have spoken to spandex and they are struggling. Where can I get one, or does anyone have one for sale? Failing that does can anyone tell me the screw pitch so I can get one machined up.

    Thanks

    Ian

    Ian,

    Define "tool holder".

A collet? if so, what ID, 1/4" or 1/2"?
For what kind of router Motor? Porter Cable or Perske 1.3Hp?

Thanks for the replies, It was the brass tool holder which fits in the top of the engraving head to hold the long tool. Ordered some new tools from spandex and they came with the tools, dohhhh.

Any one got any tips for v bit carving slate, its a bit trickery than I thought it was going to be.

    Buy a bit sharpener…………… 😀

This is tough on bits, plus I hope you have swarf extraction as it will get messy. Done plenty of slate coasters with a standard HSS bit, and was getting roughly 80-100 done before changing tools (some text and a simple logo)
