    Hi all.

I gave this company a quote, after doing all the artwork. They just came back to me and said that they have had a price that’s half of mine. what the hell is going on. the other company must be giving it away.

Its a van, that’s got printed arrows on the sides and the rest in normal vinyl. Wot price would you put on such a design to supply and fit.

    From Mark

I just need to know where I’m going wrong.

Or…..tell us what YOU though it was worth & see what the general consensus is 🙂

Learn to live with it Mark. I’m afraid that sort of thing goes with the territory.

I quoted a job yesterday and I know that I’m going to be twice the price of their existing supplier. I’ve looked at an existing van and it’s horrible. They’ve used cheap vinyl, the standard of fitting is appalling and the prints aren’t laminated. There is no way I’m going to turn out work like that. That’s not being pompous and precious, it’s economic reality, because the cost of rectification would be astronomical on four hundred vans spread all over the country, so it is essential that the vans are right when they leave here.

I always explain the quality issue to the customer, and the price implications, and surprisingly often they listen and give me the work, but I don’t lose any sleep over the ones we lose.

    Hello John,

The vans they have done already are very poor.

I don’t usually loose van work. I thought my way of quoting was spot on.

Oh well. Lets see what quality work they get for the other price. Like you said, the other company may not laminate the graphics.

    They’ll be back 😀

    quote M Brown:

    That’s the thing.

They may have sought an alternative supplier because they are unhappy with their present supplier and are ripe for a change. There’s a good chance that, once it is explained to them, they will be prepared to pay more for a better job.

Make a small reduction as a gesture of willingness by all means but, as a general principle, stick to YOUR pricing.

    Hi John,

I lowered my price for fixing the job. But I bet all they will do is go back the other company say, "well we can get it done for this price" so then they lower their price even more. I wont go any lower than I already have. I know what I’m worth.
