I have never had a problem with my 600mm version but this 1200mm version is driving me mad.

Vinyl seems to catch when being fed through on cutting. as vinyl is slightly curved when it comes off the roll and on the 120 it catches on part of the cutter and then on the cut drop line (when job is finished you cut with knife).

    Anyone had similar experiences?

    Craig,

How much of the blade do you have showing out of the blade holder, as i know for definate on the new CE6000 that only a very small amount of the blade shows. This means that the blade holder is almost touching the vinyl and therefore keeps the media flat as it goes past the blade. On our ce6000 the blade protrudes probably less than a mm…

    might be worth a try…

Thanks. Yes I have the blade protruding out of the holder by not very much, most likely 1mm or so. I was using a Smart Knife but the blade stuck out too far and was lightly cutting the vinyl when measuring the width.

yes it can be annoying so i laid a strip 19mm of thin laminate across the cutting strip and cross cutter slot,
does 2 things saves the cutting strip a bit of ware and stops the vinyl catching when loading, when you use the cross cutter it will cut through it but still does the job when it starts to get ragged fit a new bit.

Its actually the line before the cutting line it gets caught occasionally. Theres a slight gap between the cutting strip and next section. Hard to describe.

I might replace the cutting strip, not that it will fix it but its nice to replace it. But I will use Telfon Glass Tape (ALOT cheaper!)

Kind of hard to explain & my graphtec is an old model so maybe a bit different but I normally pull a bit of vinyl off the roll that is sat on the rollers at the back & feed it in at a bit of an angle rather than trying to feed it in straight. Make sure the cutting head is all the way across to one side also helps as it tends to get in the way.
Once I have a sort of corner fed through it’s easy enough to pull the rest through & straighten it up.

    Hi Martin.

I do exactly the same when loading the vinyl. I’m referring to when the cutter is measuring the width and it moves the vinyl around. Then when you hit cut/send the job through. When it begins to push the media forward.

I think I will just have to live with it and watch it! ha!
