The yellow is now RED!
From today, my versacamm (SP-540V) prints RED instead of yellow.
Yes, even from the "test print" menu (is not a software problem)
Opened the machine, the yellow "cable" is as red as the magenta’s cable…
What the hell is happened??1. These days’ heat wave?
2. The yellow head was dirty and the yellow mixed with magenta…. (a single head for two colours)
3. The employee putted the magenta cartridge in the yellow slot, and after a print, putted all in order.What to do??
I have already wasted a lot of inks doing manual, medium and powerful cleanings….
There’s a way to replace only the yellow colour???

Well, except the yellow, the other inks are new… a flush is a bit expensive…
Tonight i had an idea: I’ll print an huge yellow-only poster to use all the yellow-red inkWhat it can be the reason?
A colleague says that, in his opinion, the magenta’s print head was dried, and the high pressure of the inks caused that the magenta ink instead of being expelled has been mixed in the yellow tank… -
Use a syringe and syphon out the ink from the yellow tube until it’s all yellow.
It happed a few times to me as well on my old printer, and usually the cause was an imbalance of vaccum pressure between the colours, so when the printheads are parked, the line with the most vaccum pressure will draw up ink from the closest colour with the least vaccum.

change the capping station, what happens is that the sponge swells & touches the head allowing ink to siphon from one line to another. This will happen intermittently until you change the capping station. Vacuum between carts should not cause too much of an issue unless, sponge is swollen and /or pump lines are blocked as this is what should deal with the difference in negative pressure of the carts.Kev

just out of curiosity what is the cost of capping stations in Oz. Cost here from Roland is approx £30.00 each, so cost to replace all in the machine £180 + vat & deliveryKev

In fact, the yellow cart is almost empty, while the magenta cart is quite new. Is this the cause? 👿

For some reason the yellow cart had run out of ink but had not registered empty. Fitting a new cart solved the problem. As mentioned earlier you can use a syringe to pull the ink through – but this will also waste some magenta ink. I cleared mine by printing large blocks of 100% yellow until the ink was through.

This is weird! The yellow cart that is empty is seen by the system as full.
It’s because i have removed it….
it is possible??? What is the purpose of the microchip on the cartridge if not store the remaining ink information?!? -
As I understand it – the level is reset to full everytime a cart is pulled out and refitted.

$au50 ea here. 30 quid ($au75?) makes my supply cheaper than yours.
My Roland tech here is very proactive in terms of maintenance, so I think it is in their interest to make that maintenance affordable. I also think they are non-roland parts, because they are not branded at all.
I’ve just had a new black head, and black pump replaced on friday. I think the pump was from mimaki, but the head was Roland. The whole service cost me around $au2000.00. Heaven knows how I’ll pay for it 😕 😳 It had to be done though 🙁

If you pull a cartridge out and put it back the printer thinks you’ve put a new one in.
Just syringe the ink out. Sadly you are going to waste it anyway and its a lot quicker than printing.

i spoke to my supplier about this and was told that although it will register in the menu as a new cart if pulled out and then returned. it would still give the alarm when the cart runs out i hope 😕
