  • The best of the best glue removers. Which one?

    Morning all.

I know this has been covered before within other topics, but I thought I’d start afresh with the hope of finding what the best glue remover of them all is!

This has been prompted by me quoting to removing some vehicle wraps & in my experience, removing the vinyl isn’t the worst bit, but removing the glue is, both in mess & time.

I’ve used various glue removers in my time, but never used one that’s made me go WOW!!!

    Have you?

I guess what I’m after is something you could spray or roll on, leave & then hose off. Is that too good to be true? I’ve heard of the 3m vinyl remover being almost like this, but have no personal experience.

So before I shell out my hard earned & experiment, I thought I’d ask the collective knowledge of the UKSB.

Let me know if you’ve come across a WOW product like above, & hopefully together we can track down the ultimate vinyl glue remover to make our live that little bit easier! It might even make a sticky! (no pun intended)

    Cheers,

    G.

i have used allot of adhesive removers… rapid-remover, all the variations of citrus removers i can remember and more. this was all years ago, so im not wanting to name brands and names as ide be guessing. the one i stuck with is the one i found the most cost effective and worked very well! ide goes as much as to say i havent found any that beat in… other than the smell of it. the citrus ones win that. 😉

Tar & Glue remover. can be bought through most reputable auto valet suppliers. comes in various sizes of can/drum.

simply spray or dab onto the area of adhesive. leave a couple of minutes. spray again and wipe off.

if the glue/adhesive is particularly bad, you should use a nylon squeegee to actual scrape the adhesive up and wipe onto a paper towel. (that goes for any adhesive cleaner)

another thing you MUST remember is once you use any of these cleaners, you must wipe the areas thoroughly with isoprop or meths. then soap and water if there has been a large area being down.

I have to agree with Robert, but I have a valet unit next door to me so the tar and glue remover is very cost effective :lol1:

They actually remove graphics for quite a few people and have tried all sorts of different cleaners over the years always coming back to the tar & glue remover.

I tried some 3m stuff a few years ago which I have to admit was pretty good but it was so expensive that I never used it again.

Is this Autoglym we’re talking about, or some valet only supplier type stuff?

It could well be Gwaredd, not sure which one it comes from but it is from one of the big suppliers and I think there are only 2 or 3 of them.

The one we have, which works as rob says, is on this page, made by W.A.C products and sold by lots of the car trade suppliers.
