The answer to working on vehicles outdoors?
Posted by Phill Fenton on 29 May 2009 at 22:05Is this the answer to the proverbial problem of how to fit vehicle signs outdoors all year round?

I know that inflatable "garages" have been discussed before but these were much more expensive. Is this the answer for a mobile or home based operation?

For some reason I can’t link directly to the product in question. Scroll down the left hand menu and go to "touchless car covers" to get to the right page.

Try this?
http://www.morethanpolish.com/Touchless_Car_Cover.asp(For some reason they have made it difficult to connect direct to individual pages – I suspect it’s in the coding to ensure that when pages are indexed by search engines they go direct to the home page rather than "sub set" pages within the site)

well that works, but hardly a solution, (unless I am seeing something different) I cant see how you could have the room to work inside the cover, and apart from the occasional wet day, it is cold that is the real enemy,

Sorry Peter – You’re right – it was a stupid idea 😕 😳

I work from home, as you know.
I have been looking for a "car" cover for ages.
but I cant find one for a van, which is what most of us who work from home really would want.I dont really have a need for a cover, very rare I need one, when I think about it, our weather is so mild nowadays, I cant remember having to put a customer off because of the weather.
Not a stupid idea. don’t beat yourself up about it.
discussion and debate is what we do aint it?

Terry
Phil…. Drinking…. you’re kidding…. right? 😉

I think Phil thinks not drinks but it seems to have the same effect!
While your link Phil goes to a product that doesn’t look great the air cover on the same page would be a better option more space and light

Peter if you are after a quick assembly awning for working on van’s etc, speak to these guy’s they make what ever you need,

if you have a bit of land at home or rented/purchased then i recon these are the best way to go. they are easy to assemble/dismantle with a few hand helps and from memory not deemed as permanent so rates free. (but check that, as i was told by them this a few years back)
when you move they can be dismantled and taken with you and re-erected at new location.
they come in many standard widths from normal garage size to an airplane hanger size. once width has been established you can make it an unlimited length.
even if you out grow the initial building size. all you do is unbolt the rear wall and continue with the joining sections then re-attach the back wall, job done… the best part is they don’t cost much and its yours to keep even if erected on rented land. should your business take a different direction or you fancy a brick building etc then you can also sell it on as a kit.this is just some examples… more links to similar sites can be found on the UKSB Sign TOOLBAR, under "uk resources" then "temp and permanant workshops".
