  • Text frames in Corel X4 – Help!

Can anyone please explain how to adjust the height of a text frame in X4?

In X3 you could adjust the frame height at will and if you made it too small you just received a warning. Now it auto adjusts to the text length, but worse, when you flow the text into another frame I still cannot adjust the height of the first frame, it just springs back to the original frame height. The frame width can be adjusted and the text flows correctly but not the height.

I know its probably something simple but I just can’t find it in the menus or help.

Its one of those settings that many people stumble on another that causes a pain with users is ‘treat as filled’ my advice is to deselect it

I can’t find the "treat as filled" option. I assumed it would be in General or Edit menus. Is this for objects that have no fill so that they can be selected by clicking within the area?

    Thanks

Normally its on the horizontal top bar when nothing is selected, but if not goto
tools – customisation – commands – toolbars – scroll down and drag icon onto your workscreen where you can dock it where you want.

    Thanks Allan,

Done that now – didn’t even realise it was an option. Funny how long you can use a program and miss something as fundamental as this.

    Cheers

    Alan,

Could I just say I don’t think I know anyone who knows so much about a particular software as you do with Corel, are you sure your not a major share holder…….

I have been using Corel since #3 but learn something I didn’t know every time I read your posts..what an asset to these boards you are

    Martin

Stop it you’re making me blush.
I would advise users to look through the customisation lists – there are literally hundreds of icons and option that can be dragged onto the toolbar for quick access. It is just one of the things that Corel has that makes it such a strong product, unfortunately some of the features which set it so far ahead of the others seem to be buried, if these were as well documented as they should be I don’t think Illustrator would have the same standing it has now.
Just for the record I don’t work for Corel.
