Transport for London workers were left red-faced after misspelling Walthamstow Central Overground station. The signpost, which incorrectly read ‘Waltamstow Central’, was snapped by passengers who shared photos of the embarrassing mistake on social media. James Clark, 64, from Walthamstow told the Waltham Forest Guardian: "They need to improve their services, it shows how much care they take, the changeover to Overground has been a nightmare for us.

"Just think of the tax-payers money they spent on getting it wrong and then the money they will spend in an attempt to fix it." TfL responded to the spelling error and Jon Fox, TfL’s Director of London Rail, told the Evening Standard: "We are aware that a small number of mis-spelled signs were put up at Walthamstow Central today. "They will be replaced tonight with the correct signage."

In June, transport bosses accidentally renamed Theobalds Grove train station as Theobolds Grove thanks to an unfortunate spelling mistake. One passenger snapped a picture of the sign going up and shared it on Flickr and Twitter.
