After finding we were subbing-out more and more print work to a local sign company we were looking into the possibilities of purchasing a new flat-bed UV printer. We do already run a ‘Grenadier’ so were in two minds whether to take the plunge.

Well about a month ago a great deal was offered to us which was really too good an opportunity to say "no". So after a bit of backwards and forwards a deal has been struck and we’re now the very proud owners of a Jetrix flat-bed UV printer.

Quite a bit of moving around was needed down in the workshop, which also included building a whole new room to house the printer !! It was all very rush rush ….. so much so we were still wiring in the lights as the new printer was being pushed into place !!

It’s all in now and we’ve finished the training. The room still has some finishing to do (including building the last wall), but it seems like a great printer which will hopefully be a useful addition and another string to our rather large bow.

Getting to grips with the printer has been a steep learning curve and lots of fun, including learning the new Onyx RIP. Hopefully we’ll be able to share some of the work we produce on the printer ……. it has been earning it’s keep already as we have been printing some glass signs for an existing client.

Don’t forget to leave a door in the last wall.

Well done Jamie. We are going down exactly the same route including building new room etc !!
Ours won’t be delivered till end of October so have a bit of time to finish before it arrives.

Cheers guys ….. if we brick it up we’ll have to print a door !! :lol1:
Plan is to fit patio doors to the front of the room to give better access for larger panels and to let in a bit of daylight. It’s been ‘interesting’ trying to juggle all the other equipment around but we’re getting there.

Cheers James, yes the set-up is running CMYK & White & Primer. This is part of what was a big attraction for us as we produce quite a bit of glass signage and this’ll save us quite a bit of time. We’re also planning on expanding supplying trade customers with printed boards etc.

Congratulations, but I got a suggestion… knock may one of the walls down to get better access to the front (or back) of it, u gonna hate that cramped space before long as loading will be an problem.

Its important to keep good environment (like temperature/airflow/humidity) but u do need to be able to use it.

Good for you Adrian. We’re currently in negotiations for larger premises, simply so we can accommodate a flatbed (we hope to buy next year)

    I’m sure you won’t regret it 😉
