‘ve been asked to supply some door signs with tactile lettering. The sample shown to me was a foam PVC panel with 1.5mm thick Fruitiger U/L/C text of about 30mm cap height stuck onto the face.
The letters had good sharp inside and outside corners but had little ‘whiskers’ of material on the edges, could they be cut with an engraving machine?
I’ve never seen anything like it before can anybody help with a supplier.

we supplied some combined tactile/braille signs last year. Got them made for us by Contour signs in Stockport – did a great job. Phone 0161 975 0123 (mod-edit)

Look for DDA (Disability Discrimination Act)compliant sign materials. http://www.suregrave.co.uk and http://www.gravograph.co.uk supply two piece high contrast laminates suitable for tactile signage along with the correct angle cutters and Braille drills. The top cap is self adhesive and is stuck to the base sheet. You then cut out the profile and peel off the excess before the glue goes off.

    Hope this helps

I have made tactile signs for our local magistrates court. Lovely job, it paid for my engraving setup. Do you have an engraver or just need a supplier.

    Mike,
I don’t have an engraver, so I’m looking for someone to do some of the work involved. It’s a tender for a 3 year contract but I don’t really think there is that much work there, certainly not enough to justify buying a machine. This is just one small part of the tender. Anyway quotes only at the moment.
