    Hi Guys,

Looking at Tablet & Pen setups. Will the pen only work when pressured on the Tablet?

If so is there anything out there on the market like the pen that you can press onto anything and it reads it onto the computer?.

    Hope this makes sense.

yes but will work up to approx 4mm above the surface.
the bigger the better but expensive and difficult to get used to.

    Thanks for the reply chris.

So is there any Pens/Similar that i can draw straight onto a 3d shape to get the template etc?

Hi Paul, if it’s a 3d shape that you are trying to create on the computer then I would think you would probably be looking at a 3d scanner rather than a pen. Not sure how they work though and if you need the 3d software to view any scanned images.

    Hi Martin,

I looking to draw with a pen around a certain shape then it appear on screen in 2d so that i then have a template to work from.

Is there anything like this on the market? Surely with so many graphic/sign makers there must be a market for this sort of thing to speed things up a bit.

One of the things it was for is a Point of sale unit. There is a few cut out in it that we would like to fill with a graphic. It also has curves and corners.

That’s why i was thinking there must be a pen of some sort that I could put in the gap and draw around the outside, with the data being put onto the computer to do the design and cut.

I take it that there isn’t anything on the market like this?

Paul, if there is then I would think it would be extremely expensive, , when I have had the need to do something like that I have always found myself making a paper template the shape I wanted and then scanning that in to the computer, sometimes in several sections lol.

    Hi Martin,

Thanks for the reply. Would be good if anyone has any info if there is such a thing as I would like to find out. (even if the price is a little scary). Seems alot of messing about with paper and vinyls to get the templates etc.

    Any More Info Greatly Appreciated

That would be a useful invention Paul. And probably with today’s technology not too difficult too produce for someone with the "now how" – and I’m sure there is a market for such a device.

Meanwhile – I think we’re stuck with tracing photos and templates as Martin has already suggested

    Hi Paul

It might be that there is something on the market along the lines of a digitizing tablet. The ones that I have used enable you to plot points around a lined drawing therefore transferring the lined image onto the screen…….sorry not sure if that makes sense 😕

I’m sure if you google digitizer then you might come across something which is close to what your hoping to find.

If you are 3D digitising…get your wallet out & hand over the contents ‘cos you just KNOW it’s not going to be cheap!

have seen big ones too for modeling cars and such like.

    Hi Guys,

Thanks for the reply’s. I don’t have a picture at the minute as I never had a camera when I see it. I believe if such a product is out there or someone was to release one then it could be a decent seller and would be a major help I believe to many applications.

If anyone does here about anything on the market please let me know.

    Paul
