Just had an enquiry in from one of our bigger customers, who we’ve only done print for.

They want 5, double sided signs producing, that can be suspended from wires in their warehouse.

They asked for them on 5mm Foamex, but at 1300x700mm I’m concerned about them curling, and cautious about suspending a sheet of composite board from a warehouse roof on two wires.

They already have 2 in place, but the client doesn’t know what they’re on, and at the height they’re at it’s hard to guess.

Anybody and suggestions which material would be more suitable?

Also a supplier for the Steel Wire Rope, and clasps to suspend the signs from?

I will not be installing the signs, it’s a supply only as they have their own maintenance team that will do that.

    Cheers in advance

5mm foam too floppy, 10mm prob too expensive, I’d go with cheap composite personally.

I would use aluminium composite, definately not foam pvc.
You can get wire cable from B&Q or any good hardware store along with any wire clamps needed. It might be worth asking them to supply the cable themselves as they are fitting it and save you the hassle of any problems.

i would use ali composite board although you could use 5mm foam if you had trim at the top to strengthen

that size 1mm catenery wire would be ok variouse gripple fittings available heres one supplier i googled to give you an idea

If its a good quality foamex I cant see a problem especially if it’s portrait.

Many many years ago I used to suspend 8 x4′ 5m sheets in warehouses with chains and no problems. Then again ACM wasn’t really around then.

Did it years ago too in 5mm foam. Put a top rail on on 1/2" ‘L’ aluminium to keep it 100% straight…they’re still up there 10 years on….

    Cheers guys.

These are going to be landscape, so was concerned about curling.

I’ll put a price in for 5mm and Composite, and let the source the fixings, as I’ve not seen the warehouse they’re going in.
