Suspended Light box solution
Just looking at a job for a customer, and one of their ideas, which I suspect is the more cost effective option, is to have a lightbox suspended from the ceiling to shine out through the window. The owner of the building doesn’t permit external signage and a solid glass exterior doesn’t help.
I’m thinking a flex face or fabric system would be lighter, but as you can see from the photo, there’s not a huge amount fixing points.
Anyone done something similar and point me in the right direction?

Can’t you drill through that steel beam, drop some allthread through it to the depth required and bolt through the top of the lightbox? If you use a round ali conduit over the threaded bar, you can conceal the electrical feed within that.. or is it not a steel beam?

Yes steel.
I’m assuming it’s structural and there’s a 19 floor office block above.
Whilst unlikely it will cause any problems… I’m not sure drilling it will be acceptable to the owner of the building.
I’m thinking have some clamp system made up to grip the beam?

There are plenty of beam clamps out there, no need to have anything made up. I would prefer to drill through the beam (although they would be hard going) but people can be a bit funny when it comes to drilling through beams.. not that it would make any difference to the structure whatsoever.

Unistrut do beam clamps and you could suspend your threaded rod using their fixings
