    Good morning all.

I have been asked to provide a new banner for these brackets. The original banner is long gone but the new occupiers wish to have a new one. Can anyone point me in the correct direction for this system. The top bar is still attached with a couple of carbinas but photo shows what was at the bottom to give it tension. The overall gap between the two arms is approx 8ft 2.4M.

Would I be better of ingnoring the springs and just get some tension turnbuckle things.

    TIA

    Iain

Morning Iain, the springs are crucial in these type of penant banners, they keep the banner under constant tension & don’t stretch or lose their strength as they are under compression rather than being stretched. They’re called prison springs I believe, had some from TadeSignz if I remember correctly

Perfect Kevin, thank you very much, I just need to work out what size i need to produce the banner at to make sure it is tensioned correctly.

First used this system on this job a few years ago now & it still looks in order with no sagging. Seen various attempts at tensioning these things from nuts & bolts to bungee cord but all look terrible once the banner has stretched over time. Whoever designed those springs was a genius. Shouldn’t get excited about stuff like this but can’t help it
