Supplier of VHB tape
Posted by Martin Manley on 25 November 2008 at 10:29Hi,
I’m looking for a supplier of VHB tape – preferably the "Scotch" clear stuff with red release paper as I find this is the best for sticking acrylic letters. foamex panels, etc. directly to walls.
Cheers

is this VHB tape, 30metre by about 19mm wide graeme? seems extremely cheap for proper VHB.
i was in I-Spi trade yesterday buying stand off fixings and was shown a new VHB tape they are doing. it was a 1mm clear with red release but i dont know the spec or costs.
might be worth a call… ask for chris. http://www.ispitrade.com/ -
i use it on banners only to be honest and it works well. maybe not for real heavy duty stuff actually.

Thanks for the link andrew…

Martin, you say you are sticking them to walls.
Depending on what the wall is, VHB may be a overkill (waste of money).
VHB relies on having essentially two perfect, clean & compatible surfaces to bond to. If it’s just ’emulsioned’ walls – a good foam tape or even a high bond D/S tape will suffice.
Having used ‘proper’ VHB in the past with the whole ‘cleaner & adhesion promoter’ pack it is a fantastic product when put to it’s proper uses bonding otherwise tricky materials VERY well. But 99% of the time other products will perform just as well.

Graeme, try Coastline Adhesive Tapes. They offer all sorts. If you tell them it’s use they’ll be able to get you a suitable tape. Ask for Sallie on 01292 470289

i think it was coastline i was using nick…
i still use them for personalised branded parcel tape and things like that… -
Thanks guys,
Normally i would use a few strips of VHB on the back of a letter or panel, then slap a good blob of Gripfill on. The VHb keeps the sign in place until the Gripfill sets. Probably a bit belt AND braces, I suppose…

Indasol do a lot of the tapes and their VHB is a lot cheaper than 3m scotch and as good!!
They also do Ultra high bond – 33mtr roll x 19mm is about £26INDASOL 0870 850 5338
