  • Supplier needed – post and panel system

Posted by Andy Gorman on 17 May 2007 at 22:49

I need to find a supplier for post and panel type stuff. I’ve got a quote to do on a very big freestanding sign. The sort of thing you see on the entrance to industrial estates with loads of removable planks.

I’ve got one quote from Ashbys but would like to get a few more.

I know Spandex do this sort of thing, but you know……£££££££!

    Any recommendations?

    Hey big G,

    Try Nova aluminium in Bristol.

    Tel 0117 955 6463.

Speak to Paul Vickery, (or Gary Austin) and tell them I sent ya !

Just visited their factory Wednesday and they showed me a panel / post system just like you’re looking for.

    Cheers
    Joe

Andy if its only for a one off, I would stick with ashby or spandex. If its for several signs then you could always buy the "planks" and posts in from a metal stockists like Alutec in Bedford and make your own from scratch,

Sorry wrong name its not Alutec, will have to look it up, but they sell loads of ally stuff, from posts to sign blanks

We’ve found in the past that when you start to get taller than 3m for industrial estate signage, the off-the-shelf products aren’t always robust enough for the freak winds that we now get in the UK.

We made a 5m tall estate sign using a standard aluminum signpost extrusion from a well now sign supplier, and the once erected found the top of the sign had too much whip in it, so we decided to add an steel support post. Guess what! that weekend came the wind from hell and bent the sign right over! 😳

I now prefer to use steel posts and either fabricate our own panels or adapt something an off-the-shelf product. 😀
