    Hello everyone!

I am painting and lettering a swing sign for a customer with a tanning shop. He has supplied me with a sun image on a piece of acrylic for me to copy. This is the sun he wants, and he says he originally found it on WS Windows, but goodness knows where! I cant find it. It is quite large, and since it is cut in etch glass film, there is not a great deal of contrast for me to do a digi pic and then vectorise.

I am posting to ask whether anyone has a piece of clipart like it, or if not, the easiest way I can work with the artwork he has supplied to get it into a cuttable form (I use Signlab 5). If only I could get it on the scanner!

    Thankyou and regards to all,

    David

    Hello again,

I managed it! I put the perspex on top of a black background and then took various digital photos to try and get a nice clean shot. One turned out fine, so I converted it to greyscale, then to black and white, imported into signlab and traced around. After only a little cleaning up, I have this lovely classical sun image!

I am posting the Signlab and Illustrator file here in case anyone else might find it useful.

    Regards,

    David

I missed this post earlier, I would have done just as you did. The digital camera sure makes things easier…or is it harder now? Anyways, glad you found a solution for your problem. Drink a pint for me. 😀
