Summa DC3 Ribbons – Info Required?
Hello everyone,
I’ve been searching over the net for DC3 ribbons other than the ones made by Summa…
I’ve noticed that the IImak site for the Durachrome in Europe shows they have such a ribbon…but the same is not offered in the US…Have anyone purchased it or another brand??? and if so what’s the price?

I think you will find that you can only use Summa brand ribbons in a DC3 because of the ‘SmartRibbon’ system. This (amongst other things) ensures that DC3 owners have to buy (relatively expensive) Summa ribbons. There are similar systems on the Gerber MAXX and beware, also on the new Gerber Edge FX. The Iimak Europe site doesn’t say that they offer ribbons for the DC3, like Coding Products I suspect that they can only offer ribbons for DC1 printers that haven’t been upgraded to use the ‘SmartRibbon’ system. If anyone knows of a way around the system, I’m sure that there would be many grateful DC3 owners who would like to know how.

This week I’ll be testing a new ribbon and if it works out I’ll let you all know…the cost is less than half of the price of the OEM.
