Sublimation Block Garment Vinyl
Posted by John Penkman on 16 February 2011 at 16:49Hi All,
I’m looking for any recommendations for printable garment vinyl which blocks out dye migration on 100% sublimated polyester, e.g striped football shirts. We’re print and cutting with a Roland SOLJET PRO III XC-540.
I’ve tried a couple, but never fully settled on one, the best one I found was supplied by Target, but for one reason or another it was discontinued.
Cheers

I was waiting forever for this stuff from Xpres… ended up looking like an idiot to the customer cos Xpres told me they had it in stock via email then told me that it was out of stock for month
Gave up trying to find someone after that but will have another look come P&P this month

I’ll perhaps get in trouble for this…sorry in advance just in case, but we do a product called Ink Stop
The spec: CAD-CUT™ material for application onto dyed garments (sublimation inks). A barrier to the dyes of the textiles avoiding sublimation bleed. Decoration colour won’t change along time.
Its available in white and yellow.
Not sure if its what your looking for?

I had a similar problem with xpres, kept me waiting with the product on back order for approx 6 weeks to 2 months, and then finally told me they had discontinued it.
I’m getting a vinyl from Victory at the moment, but I’m not too impressed with the finish it gives, can be a bit too glossy, and when printing darker colours, no matter how long I’ve left the transfers before applying, I get some colour lifting off.

We’re using application tape, after 12 hours drying. I have tried without the application tape but found results even more inconsistent.
I’ve tried to a couple of different ways of pressing such as a short press, then remove them application tape and complete the press with a silicon sheet covering. To be honest, the designs with a dark background, say navy or black are the one were are having most trouble with colour lifting off.
Do you think it could have something to do with the way I’m printing it as Victory never gave me a print profile, so I’m just using the generic vinyl settings.

You buying it from Victory then? I tried stuff from them in the beginning and had same problems… switched supplier and problem kinda solved
In versaworks there is a profile for heat transfer material but i’ve just been using generic 2 profile as it seems to be a little nicer on finish
Grafityp sell material for lifting the print and pressing it onto the garment, have not tried it personally but been told it stops the glossy finish and ink from lifting off
I telling myself to give it a try but keep forgetting when ordering from Grafityp which isn’t that often at the moment
I’ll give it a go and give you feedback

Cheers John, look forward to finding out how you get on.
