Stolen Sign Making Goods, Help Needed?
Posted by Caroline Reynolds on September 18, 2010 at 9:31 pmHi everyone
We had a break-in at our premises during the early hours of Tuesday 14th of September, which resulted in the loss of our Uniform Cadet Plus printer, computer system and just about every roll of vinyl, digital media and even application tape. We’re assuming it’s been stolen to order.
Our business is based just outside Belfast and we just wanted to put the word out to anyone with similar equipment, that could warn their ink suppliers of the possibility of the thieves contacting them for replacement cartridges.
Any information that could be used to catch the culprits would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Sorry to hear this Caroline, have to say though… it does sound a bit sussed.
a random thief would be in and out with all your computer equipment and any power tools you had lying around. certainly not a large awkward machine to transport out into a waiting vehicle and certainly not the vinyl stock! to Joe bloggs that’s just rolls of sticky tape or whatever…hope you get it sorted soon and it doesn’t effect your business too badly till your up and running again.

That is suss, sounds like someone you know or a customer or maybe a competitor just trying to screw things up. Cant see it being stolen to order too specialist.
Terrible thing to happen anyway, hope you get over it and it doesnt impact your business too much!

Thats desperate Caroline, will keep an ear out down in Monaghan.
Not that suss though lads, happens here alot. A couple of boyos where caught here in a police string with a book full of fireplaces photographed through the windows of big houses. They were showing the pics and only robbing what they had sales for. A friend of a client of mine was approached in France! asking if he wanted to purchase a fireplace. He recognised his mates and tipped of the police. So stealing to order is probably spot on.

Thanks guys
We’d been broken into a month previous and they’d taken what hand tools they could find. The alarm was triggered as they tried to gain entrance to the office, so we think that it’s probably been the same people who have come back, knowing what was there.
Luckily we are insured, so fingers crossed we can be up to full strength sooner rather than later.
Would any of you have a recommendation in relation to the type of printer we should be replacing the stolen one with? Thanks again

Maybe over reacting but I’d keep details of your new equipment off your website. It’s kinda only useful info for other signmakers or thiefs.

Caroline if you have the serial number of the printer then that would help if us suppliers get offered a printer as a cheap buy or part exchange.

Caroline,
Sorry to hear about that. I have been having a quick look at a few of the sales sites, Gumtree, donedeal.ie and there are a couple for sale. They look genuine but you may want to have a look.
Neil
These are links for the machine type in question.

Yes Harry, you may be right about the website…..Nigel, the serial number is ZU05515…..thanks Paul, I think it’s long gone by now and Neil, thanks for the heads up on the ads, but it would be easily recognizable as the main casing on the right that covers the docking station, was left behind. Let’s hope their print heads will be drying out nice and fast.
