Just produced a two panel perspex fascia sign
every thing was applied in reverse onto clear and backed up,
The sign is to be fixed in a indoor precinct onto a flat plasterboard wall ,not wanting to add a frame as i like the clean edge can can this be stuck with silicone or tape…

    Panels are 5mm 96″x26″

    Your advice would be welcome
    thanks

terry you can stick it with vhb tape. put the tape right around the outside. then strips running verticle along the length, sapces of about 18 inches.
inbetween these spaces you can also put some silicon to give it the belt and braces security.

another idea that i have used and looks nice, is to raise the panel from the surface using locaters like you would flat cut letters. its a great finish and now visable fixings 😉

ahhh forget that.. plasterboard? 😕 forget the VHB, use a cheaper high bonding with silicon.

still locaters will work fine too 😉

    thanks robert
excuse my ignorance but when you say silicone is that the same product that iis used to seal around baths etc
or are you suggesting something totally different

The locator idea though would have been possible if the surface had been reasonable and finished but its bare plasterboard

well i say silicon, but there are various types terry.
call someone like soveriegn supplies. ask them for a BONDING silicon.
these type of trade suppliers are much cheaper than B&Q, but if you only need a few tubes then B&Q it is. again, you are after a BONDING silicon. exact name etc im sorry, i dont know of hand. tell the guy on the isle that has them on it, tell him what you are bonding and he should give you the right one.
i remember years ago we paid somthing like £6:50 a tube. went to a trade supplier and ended up with A 12 tube box for £14-£15 😮

As steve said, Gripfill is fantastic stuff, I think there are two types available – one with solvent base and one without. Solvent one smells better but you might want to be careful that it doesn’t affect your vinyl on the back of the panels. Would be a shame if it ruined your sign after all the effort 🙁

If it’s going on bare plaster use the solvent one, i once put up loads of wood frames with the non-solvent one, stuck really well, went back the following day and they were all on the floor.
But as Nigel said test it on the vinyl first
