Hey guys, recently the company i worked for has closed down. but i would still like to continue producing vinyl signs. Iv been in the industry for a year and done a few things, but would just like some advice on a vinyl cutting machine, any recomendations.. no too pricey. The one i was using was a GRAPHTEC 600 i think, pretty old…

    any info would be great.

    much obliged

I will probably get loads of aggro for admitting this but I purchased a chinese import off ebay for £400 when I started off. I told myself that if I earned enough to do this properly I would invest in a Graphtec as that was the make I used when I was employed. My chinese import is still going as well as the day I started, 2 years and counting, so I guess I have been lucky with it. (takes up to 610mm wide media, it’s all I’ve got and it gets me through an awful lot of business.) I admit I have no tech. or engineering support so it was a risk to take. When I started the business the thought of spending a few grand on machines, vinyl and software frightened me a bit so I cut LOADS of corners and buying a cheapo on ebay was one of them. Reading the instructions raise a laugh though…

..prevent from laying it in a place of quack…..??

Also Graphtec machines have come down an awful lot in price over the last 2 years, a machine costing £1750+vat two years ago is now something like £950+vat

Hey Ben. Sorry to hear about the bad news mate.

    I bought a graphtec ce-3000 610wide to start up.

Still got the thing now. Never skips a beat. And I’m still using it today 2.5yrs later!!!!

    Hope you get things sorted.

Gareth sounds like you did well with your machine considering whats been said on previous posts. Where abouts in cardiff are you. I must pop in to see you one day. Im only down the road.

    If thats alright of course????????

    Best of luck ben

i bought a fastrack 650 for my first machine. havent used it lots and lots, but i have no problems with it whatsoever. used to use the 1300 fastrack at another company i worked at many years ago and liked it so was pretty sure this wouldnt fail to impress. very quick machine i must say.
