    Hello peeps,
couple of days ago we was in Bristol where Spandex hosted an open day to learn more about the printers/vinyl wrapping/modular signs/gerber systems, we also attended a seminar on “Colour management” and “linearizing your printer”. They focused on their new version of Omega 2.5, Colourpainter and an Eye One. Very interesting as they hired a guy from the Netherlands to discuss colour concepts of the printer and how it works. It is amazing that the slightest variation of tempreture in a print room can effect the quality of print (well, so they said).

We also saw the Mutoh/Gerber Sptifire/Seiko Colourpainter and the new UV Printer the Gerber Salora.

Saw a couple of faces I recognised from the boards, but wasn’t certain enough to approach, was there anybody else there?

    Well I wasn’t there.

After nearly 10 years in business I have never bought anything from Spandex – yet I still get letters from them on a regular basis advising me that they have reluctantly had to increase prices due to Oil, war, famine etc.. (you fill in the spaces ).

Anybody else care to admit they weren’t there 😕

    I was there on Wednesday.

The talks on colour and profiling were interesting but not essential. The comments about humidity, temperature etc were way over the top. If my Cadet was that sensitive I’d never get anything printed.

The talk on expanding profits was not. It was a FUD session to convince you that Spandex are the only possible supplier!!

The main thing I got out of the day was a closer insight on vehicle wrapping techniques. What I would like is details of how to price them up.

    Good sandwiches and coffee though.

yeah, sadly you have no avatar so i would not recognise you, but certainly the dutch guy was interesting, i actually have brough up the spare heater for the print room just now as it is freezing in there and I have to print matt vinyl and matt is really difficult at times. Tempreture and humidty effects litho/inkjets/silk screen and laser printers so I certainly think it is important.

I just wanted to see someone else linerise the printer, so it was worthwhile visit for us as our main supplier is spandex.
