    Hi Guys

    I have a Roland SP 540V

Been having a mare for ages with pinch roller errors.

    "invalid left/right position"

After someone elses advice I have just replaced the cut cartridge cable & plastic guides

Got them from grafityp and were pretty inexpensive.

I have replaced them myself after a bit off fiddling and dropping tiny screws

Just put it all back together now but unfortunatley still giving me pinch roller error!!

Any adivice on the next thing to try would be much appreciated!

is there a pinch wheel sensor or something similar??
heard of one becoming loose i think

    hope you guys can help

Paul I had exactly the same problem, kept coming up intermittently. It turned out to be the flexible cable running to the print head, the friction and constant flexing cause it to become resistant and it begins to show this error, occasionally at first and becoming more and more frequent until the machine cannot set up.
I think there has been a thread on exactly this topic on the boards.
The cable is not particularly expensive and although I did not replace it myself as it coincided with a regular service by a techie, it seemed to be quite straightforward to replace and I would have tried this myself rather than spend hundreds on a techie callout.
    Simon.

Don’t want to state the obvious here but some people might not know that if the wheels are not completely in the Blue area it will give a pinch roller error.

    No worries simon

Yes seems a common issue apparently Roland did issue a service note on this. Yeah was quoted 350 for a call out but having some electrical knowledge thought I’d give it a go

The cable you need is the one one that runs alongside/behind the encoder strip, it is a flat thing that comes back on itself at the left hand side , we had this go on both our versacamms within weeks of each other.

For the down time I would say always worth getting an engineer out. In my opinion that is.
