hi all, got 1000 stickers to print on my SP 540i.
its a print and cut job.
this is the problem – they are rectangular stickers and need to be cut into rectangles (not perf cut).
hope this makes sense but the further it prints across the media eg 45"+ the cut is way off by 2 -3 mm.
I have checked versaworks that there is no 0.35 mm eps margin.
I have done cut adjustments and they seem fine.
    Is there anything else?

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

    thanks

    Hi Chris

Try checking the settings on your machine MENU at the control panel…there are adjustments you can make there – they are self explanatory (and an AUTO ADJUST in amongst them which I would only use as a last resort)

After you have made adjustments set up a file with a 1cm filled box with a cut line LEFT, CENTRE & RIGHT of your max media width to see if the cut error is the same right across the width…it usually isnt – and that can only be corrected thru the settings in your menu

Are they print and cut in one hit Chris?? If so try printing them with the print and cut alignment crops, but print only – then set the machine to cut only. Once its found the crops it’ll be perfick. We have this issue with our machine too, if we try and do print and cut in one hit it can be off but if we do it as two steps its fine.

    Worth a try anyway

    andy’s method will work well.
if the first cut is good but gets further out as it progresses across the printer do a environment check at normal machine operating temps.
excessive knife pressure will also cause this look for the material buckling whilst cutting it must remain dead flat.
some materials are worse than others due to heat expansion and contraction.

As above but also are you multiplying the label in Versaworks or in seperate 3rd party software

If you find the cuts are running badly out and you have to stop the machine, after cancelling the job, wind the vinyl back through the machine without releasing the grit rollers. Check the media is still aligned with the cutting strip. If not, then the media is slipping. Turning the vacuum up when cutting will help keep the media flat and reduce any problems with media slipping.

hint – I have had to stop a job half way through a large run of decals because the cuts were running out. The decals were tiled in versaworks so there was no way of only cutting the remaining half of the job. What I did was simply remove the blade and allowed the printer to think it was cutting the first half of the job, then lift up the cover and gently insert the blade and allow the printer to cut the remainder of the job. I know this is probably not recommended, but if you are careful I don’t think it will do any harm and it allowed me to save the print.

    Hi Chris,
There is a calibration in service menu that sorts out the RHS alignment and a separate calibration that sorts out the cut as it moves across to the LHS.
AS your machine is under warranty, place a support call and Roland will sort out the problem F.O.C…

Hope all is well with you, say hi to your folks. Andy.
