We deal mainly in vehicle lettering but one of our customers has asked us to do a small sign for him. It is to be fitted onto a pole to replace one he has which is too small. The existing one is mounted onto a piece of metal which is wrapped around the pole and then hidden by a sign on each side. As this is fairly new to us, I don’t know what this product is called and who the best supplier is. The sign itself has to stand up to vandalism i.e. being hit with stones – we have some Foamalux from Amari, would this do the job?

    Any opinions would be appreciated.

Meant to add – the existing “thingy” is going to be re-used elsewhere so we can’t use it.

Although I can’t fully understand how the sign is made from your description (perhaps I’m being a bit 🙄 ) but from experience foamalux is not terribly vandal proof. It will chip quite easily if stones are thrown at it.
Sorry I can’t be of more use.

im not clear on exactly what your after mate.
in my head i see a metal sign on channel with a clip & bolt fastening it to the pole.

if this is the case you will need to use some 2mm alluminium, sign channel on rear held in place by rivettes, fastened by a couple of clips and bolts, the lettering on the face of sign. probably better covering that in clear vinyl too..

these are cheap to make and very easy. “BUT” and its a big but… it is not cheap if you are doing a one off…
the reason is you will need a length of sign channel. some sign clips, “proper size” alluminium sheet cut to size then assemble it. thats easy and so is fitting it..
signs like this done in bulk are great money and easy to make.. but costly if just a one off to keep a customer happy.

dont use foam board.. not worth the bother or the complaint two weeks or 2 minutes after its up. it will spilt with a ball hitting it.. it will melt at bits with a cigarette & will be faded in a couple of months if its a colour. 🙄

    John
try finding a local fabricater, i use my local bloke for all additional sign brackets etc most of the time he ends up using a off cut etc and the cost is minimal i also lucky in the fact that they powder coat to, so they just throw it in with someone elses batch but you could quite easily hammerite it etc.
