Software for V carving text
Hi
I’ve just finished making a CNC router for sign making.
This is a smallish machine, 650mm X 760mm cutting area but is big enough for most of the work I need it for, I would have liked it to be a bit bigger but I bought the parts of a friend as an unfinished project so I got it very cheap.I already have a medium sized CNC milling machine for hobby use, but it’s not big enough to make signs etc.
Because of the mill I have 3D and 2.5D CAM software as well as various CAD programs but none of them will do text with sharpened corners like Vectric’s V Carve program, I’ve used the trial version and it seems nice to use etc and the price seems good for what you get.
So before I spend any money on V Carve is there any other recommendations for software that can easily do V carved text with sharpened corners.

Wow, all these closet CNC’ers :lol1: Post some pictures please Stephen. I have just finished a project as well. I will have to post a video of it running. Mine is only 2D really, it paints onto canvas. I could attach a small Dremmel for engraving.

Hi there.
Look for Bob CAD software. When we built our 8x4ft CNC Router it came free with the kit and it was awfully cheap but I have to be hones here and tell you that we only use Engrave Lab within Sign Lab to drive our Router which has served us well for nearly 2 years now.
